FADS 2021 Spring Revival Show
Where 18th Century Regal Influences Meet Punk Subculture
These two looks were selected from all of the designs of my collection which then came to life with the help of skills that I have gained in the past year. I began this work by creating my color palette through sketching which I then took out with me to shop. I shopped for fabric at second hand stores, seeking out prints in garments and then seam ripping them apart to be re-used. I created my own pants pattern for the pink silk pants and got to explore various draping techniques while working with the fabrics I thrifted. This personal project was for an on campus group that holds fashion shows each year, opening up to the Syracuse community for anyone to get the chance to be a designer. I found the difficulty of transferring sketches to fabric but also the beauty in the way the original design can change for the better.
Look 1: Rachel

During Rachel's look, the skills I utilized were hemming, pattern-making, draping, and hand-stitching when attaching the loop that connects the pants to the top piece. The other skills I improved upon were problem-solving and creativity as I used the trial and error method when making the silk pants. For Caroline's look, I learned how to make knit shirts and worked with draping, serging, and taking in the pieces for the right fit.

Early Sketches
The fabrics I used for this project I took samples of and put into my sketchbook. The two looks I created evolved from the second and sixth looks.
